RELEASE: Northam for Governor Releases “Haley” Video
Richmond, VA – This week, the Northam for Governor campaign released “Haley”, an online video featuring Lisa Smith, whose daughter Haley is a patient of the lieutenant governor’s pediatric neurology practice. Haley suffers from a rare form of epilepsy and in the video, her mother Lisa details how Dr. Northam fought in Richmond to get Haley access to the right treatment: medical marijuana.
See the video below:
My name is Lisa Smith. I am from White Stone, Virginia. And I am mom to Haley, who is one of Dr. Northam’s patients.
At age five months she had her first seizure, which lasted about twenty five minutes. I took us to Dr. Northam down at CHKD, Children’s Hospital of the King Daughters. Haley had tried, at that point, seventeen different medications. And so, she had exhausted everything.
Her doctor said that if I was not to be charged on the state or federal level, then I would prescribe cannabis for her.
And he said, ‘well, you’ve heard about cannabis for kids like Haley?’
And I said, ‘yeah.’
And he goes, ‘well, I’m going to work on that.’
He is just one of the most kindest human beings I know. I think he’s just very sincere.
